This digital document is the Non-Technical Summary of the Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR) prepared on behalf of Gatwick Airport Limited (GAL) for the proposal to make best use of Gatwick Airport’s existing runways (referred to as ‘the Project’).

For each environmental topic scoped into the EIA, Section 7 summarises the environmental baseline, the mitigation measures that are part of the Project and the potential environmental effects (focussing on those that are considered to be significant) that have been identified at this stage.

Section 8 provides information about where the PEIR can be viewed and how to request copies.

Next Steps

Section 9 outlines how consultation responses will be taken into account in the ongoing EIA and design processes and the preparation of the final Environmental Statement to be submitted with the application for development consent.

This Non-Technical Summary provides a summary of the PEIR that forms part of the pre-application consultation for the proposal to make best use of Gatwick Airport’s existing runways.

Following consultation and review of the responses, an Environmental Statement will be prepared. The Environmental Statement will accompany the application for development consent and will, where relevant and practicable, take into account the comments received during consultation with the community, statutory consultation bodies and other interested parties.

Details of the consultation undertaken during the preparation of the application will be set out in a separate Consultation Report. The Consultation Report will be submitted alongside the Environmental Statement at the time of application.
